Tom Hooton gets results! * * * * * * I am a former Judge, Former Assistant District Attorney, a member of National College of DUI Defense. I have 38 years of practice and I have handled thousands of cases. DWI is all I handle and as a result I am very good at it. I have taught other lawyers how to win DWI cases. As you have seen in some of the cases I have handled, juries like me and as a result of knowing how to pick juries, I win my client's cases. I am a well-seasoned lawyer who can win your case if it is winnable. * * * * * * * I GET RESULTS * * * * * Although only a sampling of my trial victories, these are real cases. My clients come from all walks of life with one goal in common, finding a lawyer with the skill to win. All of these people would have faced severe penalties if convicted. As a result of getting a not guilty, they will not have a criminal record. Daniel from Austin, Texas, was stopped on Greenville Avenue by Dallas Police. He was arrested and taken to jail. At the scene he put his foot down two to three times on the one leg stand, and stepped off the line two times on the walk and turn test. Result: Not Guilty Nicholas was stopped by Dallas Police late one night going home. On the day of trial prior to picking a jury, the State of Texas dismissed the DWI case. Result: Dismissed on day of trial Dallas was charged with a third DWI which carries a punishment of two to ten years, if convicted. He was on probation for a prior DWI at the time he was charged with this DWI case. On the day of trial and after issuing a bench warrant, the State filed a motion to dismiss. Result: Dismissed on day of trial John was charged with DWI. On the day of trial, the state dismissed the DWI in exchange for an obstruction charge deferred, which means he will not have a conviction for DWI. Result: DWI Dismissed James was charged with a third DWI which carries a possible punishment of two to ten years. The state reduced the felony to a misdemeanor DWI at trial. Result: Felony DWI Dismissed - No penitentiary time Zoraya ran her car upon another parked car. She blew a .15 breath test. Result: Not Guilty Greg was charged with a third DWI. I tried the case to a judge. Result: Not Guilty Jason was charged with a DWI first. Result: State Dismissed Bridie was charged with DWI. On the day of trial, the State dismissed the case. Result: Dismissed Stacy was charged with a third DWI with a two to ten year punishment range. On the day of trial, the State dismissed felony to obstruction. Result: Charge Reduced to Obstruction My client admitted on the video that he had "one too many". He also had a breath test result of .15, nearly two times over the limit. Result: Not Guilty My client on the way to the jail, on the video tape, called the Irving police officer a skin head (M.F.) cracker. Result: Not Guilty My client's video was not good. I went to trial and obtained a not guilty from the jury. Result: Not Guilty My client was charged with a second DWI. He was speeding at 95 mph while also weaving. Result: Not Guilty My client took a breath test with a result of .26, three times over the legal limit. Result: Hung Jury My client rear-ended a city truck and was charged with DWI. He had a .10 breath test result. Result: Not Guilty My client admitted on the video that he was intoxicated after eight beers. Result: Not Guilty My client was passed out in his car in an intersection. Result: Not Guilty My client was tied in Runnels County on second DWI and obtained an instructed verdict. Had the judge also instruct the jury to find my client not guilty. Result: Not Guilty These are just a few of the cases I have handled.
